Lumo is a new travel service, travelling exclusively on the East Coast of the UK between London & Edinburgh, calling at Stevenage, Newcastle & Morpeth. We are helping to improve regional connectivity while offering alternatives to Newcastle and Luton airports. We are also doing our bit to better the environment and to better your journey. All our trains are 100% electric and 25 times cleaner than flying.
We are serious advocates of continuous learning and personal development, with 90% of our team undertaking a custom designed apprenticeship. We have started as we mean to go on. Our colleagues are encouraged to continually learn and develop with us and will commence an apprenticeship when they join, or are promoted throughout the business, which will allow us all to be the best that we can be.
We keep our customers at the heart of everything we do
Always front of mind, safety is our way of life
We trust each other to deliver and work to help one another succeed
Every decision matters, we do the right thing to achieve our goals
We want to be the best, continually seeking a better way to do things
To our commitment to being an inclusive employer, all of our policies and procedures are written in a fully inclusive, nonbinary manner without the use of male female pronouns. These are written to champion and support our team to be their authentic selves while working for Lumo.
We strive to find accessible ways of working for colleagues and have ensured that our trains are user friendly for all.
We give our colleagues a voice in decision making around the business and have taken feedback given and used this to develop our business into something we are all passionate and proud of.
We have partnered with a number of organisations to provide understanding and support to our colleagues, including Purple Tuesdays, Institute of Railway Operators, Women in Rail Mentoring Scheme and the Women in Rail EDI Charter, signatory of the ‘Wellbeing of Women’ Menopause Workplace Pledge, Railway Mental Health Charter, Northern Pride and Curious Arts we will continue to develop our understanding as our business grows.
