The West Coast Partnership is a joint venture between FirstGroup and Trenitalia to run existing intercity services on the West Coast Main Line and deliver future high-speed services.
Our partnership is comprised of two businesses: Avanti West Coast – who run the existing high-speed services on the West Coast Mainline, and West Coast Partnership Development – who are the shadow operator for future high-speed train services.
Avanti West Coast (AWC) provides the principal long-distance passenger services on the West Coast Main Line between London, the West Midlands, North West England, North Wales, and Scotland. Its services connect six of the largest cities in the UK: London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, which have a combined metropolitan population of over 18 million.
West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD) is the Shadow Operator for HS2, designing new high-speed services, as well as reshaping existing Avanti West Coast intercity services. Our goal is to maximise the benefits of the significant investment from the Department for Transport into the new High Speed 2 (HS2) railway, as well as the upgrades to the existing infrastructure on the West Coast Main Line.

Final Salary Pension
We are part of the Railway Pension Scheme. Our current contribution rates are: Employee 6.98% and Employer 10.47% of pensionable pay.
