How long do you normally wait when you've been put onto the 'talent pool?

Hi, I applied for a vacancy in the south west last July, took a while to get an assessment and interview but eventually happened in October last year and I had an email a few weeks later to say that I had been successful and would be added to the reserve list awaiting future roles. When I applied for the role this wasn't something that was mentioned as a possibility, but ultimately it was OK as I was just really pleased to have been successful. I'm getting on for nearly 4 months now since my last contact and just wondered if there was a way to find out an update on when to expect a start date? Any help or advice would be appreciated, thank you!

    Hi there,

It's very difficult to predict as it is usually dependent on changing business requirements. Typically though, it can take anywhere up to 6 months. After this time you may be asked to reapply, although this tends to vary by role.

Given you've stated this was for a role in the South West, I'm going to assume it was with Great Western Railway (GWR). I would therefore suggest that you reach out to their recruitment team at gwrrecruitment@gwr.com and request an update. Please ensure you include your name and details of the vacancy you applied for.
