My son wants to become a train driver when he is old enough to apply. He has been asked by his school to find a work experience placement. Do any of the rail networks take on work experience students who are aged 15? It can be in an office, anything connected to the railways. Thank you.
Hi there and apologies for the delayed response.
When work experience is possible, it's typically arranged directly with your local station. As such, your best bet is to visit your local station and ask to speak with the station manager, who will then be able to advise whether any opportunities for work experience exist. Alternatively, if you drop an email to the relevant recruitment team for which your local station is managed by (assuming it's a FirstGroup company), then they may be able to advise further. You can find the email addresses for these under the "Contact us" section on the FAQs page of our careers site - https://careers.firstgroup.co.uk/faqs
