Hi there,
It's very difficult to put a percentage on it, as it's dependent on company needs at any given time and the type of role can also make a difference. In addition to this, GWR will be moving back into public ownership at some point in the 2nd half of next year, so this too could have an impact.
What I can advise is that successful candidates are placed into talent pools with the anticipation that a role will become available, albeit not guaranteed. My advice would be after 3 months have passed, to contact the GWR Recruitment Team and simply ask for any updates they can provide.
Thanks for the quick response! What will it mean for GWR when it moves back into public ownership?
When the transition happens (currently expected to be September 2026), all GWR employees will transfer into the publicly owned company, DfT Operator Ltd (DFTO), and the DfT will take over operations of running the train services. We're not in a position to predict or suggest what happens beyond this, but those will be the two core changes initially.
