About the team:

Working as part of a dedicated and hardworking team who are responsible for the presentation of the GWR fleet. Ensuring the interior and exterior of our contracted trains are cleaned to a high standard to deliver comfort and a great experience for our customers.

About the job:

You will be working with 4 team leaders and 32 staff members to clean GWR trains to an acceptable level that our customers expect. You will be working a 5on 3off pattern, consisting of 8hr shifts (22:00 – 06:00) over an 8-week roster which equates to 35hrs per week. You will be expected to work weekends and bank holidays.

You will receive a very competitive salary and 32 Annual Leave days.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To monitor performance of the cleaning team, support team members to develop and achieve their full potential.
  • To create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships
  • Develop other's competencies to enhance performance.
  • Actively participate in improving processes and safe operational flexibility
  • To deliver cleaning to the highest standards for our customers
  • To create and maintain the necessary safe conditions for work activity
  • Always complying with safety standards.

Who we are looking for:

  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record in leading teams and working on your own initiative
  • Able to complete tasks to a set standard and in accordance with specification/procedure to GWR standards
  • Committed and able to encourage a team to deliver cleaning to the highest standard
  • Enthusiastic and well organised in your approach towards work
  • Willing to deliver training to colleagues and ensure documentation is kept up to date 

As a minimum you'll need to have:

  • An understanding of COSHH and Health and Safety at work
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of using Word, Excel & Microsoft Outlook
  • Desire to want to learn new skills and develop
  • Hold a current driving licence
  • An NVQ level 1 or 2 in Cleaning and Support Services or working towards it
  • Previous experience in cleaning and/or support services. 
  • Able to exchange information to solve problems and participate in decision making.
  • Able to create and maintain the necessary safe conditions for work activity.
  • Actively participating in improving processes and safe operational flexibility.

Additional Information:

  • If there is more than one successful applicant a reserve list will be created to fill roles which may arise within the next 6 months which may be of an alternative shift type.
  • The ability to live within a maximum of 60 minutes travelling time to the depot you apply for. (This means able to travel to work within 60 minutes for both your own travel and using public transport, which is not negotiable)
