🔹 About the Role?

As a Conductor, you'll be the face of Great Western Railway (GWR) on board our trains – delivering a world-class customer experience and ensuring the safety and comfort of everyone who travels with us.

You'll work closely with colleagues from Revenue Protection, Ticket Examiners, Train Drivers, Station teams and Control – playing a vital part in keeping our services running smoothly and safely.

🔹 What You'll Be Doing?

• Acting as an ambassador for GWR – helping our customers feel safe, informed and valued throughout their journey
• Managing key safety and operational responsibilities on board
• Providing clear information and assistance in a friendly, professional manner
• Checking and selling tickets
• Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment

🔹 What We're Looking For?

• A natural people person with a genuine passion for customer service
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Confident in managing unexpected situations or challenging behaviours
• Previous front-line customer service experience is essential

🔹 What You Need to Know?

• This is a shift-based role (early starts and late finishes), including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• You must be able to travel to and from the depot without relying on public transport, even outside of regular service hours
• You must live within 60 minutes' commuting time of the depot
• You must be aged 18 or over to apply
• During training, you'll receive a salary of £25,501 until you pass out as competent. Once fully qualified as a Conductor, your basic salary will increase to £37,251.
