You will be part of an exciting programme that will help us transform how we move customers.  Leading and managing projects and workstreams within the Driver function you will be responsible for their deliverables, driving and overseeing the actions; ensuring objectives and risks are clearly defined and managed to meet the functions and wiser business goals.

You will manage all aspects of Driver projects, including planning, risk management, stakeholder management and ensuring the projects accurately report their progress.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Deliver projects in accordance with business project methodologies.
  • Utilise project management software to manage work breakdown structures.
  • Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.
  • Identify requirements based on stakeholder needs.
  • Lead the project to deliver agreed outputs within time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Day-to-day management of projects and key stakeholders
  • Monitor delivery against project plans
  • Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned.
  • Identify/monitor project risks and issues. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.
  • Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision-making.

About you 

You will possess sound knowledge of project management methodologies, as well as operational rail knowledge, ideally within a traincrew function.

You will have proven skills in:

  • Project Management
  • Traction and/or infrastructure introductions
  • Proficient in MS applications
  • Facilitation and leading through engagement
  • Negotiation, ideally with experience working with Trade Unions
  • Risk/issue management
  • Planning
  • Stakeholder management and building collaborative relationships
  • Communications management
  • Reporting

You will have a track record of:

  • Delivering projects in a rail operational environment, driving delivery and improving performance
  • Business case development
  • Business process improvement

What do I need?

Essential

  • Appropriate project management qualifications and experience
  • Operational rail knowledge

 About the location

This role requires travel across the network and regular attendance in Milford House, Swindon. However, your base location can be flexible.

Working pattern 

This role is full time, 37 hours a week.
