About the team:

The Payroll team is based in central Bristol. The team is responsible for the production of weekly and four weekly payrolls for GWR, Transpennine Trains (TPTL), Hull trains and Heathrow Express. The team process all payroll and pension data and assist with the resolution of queries from staff and external organisations.

About the job:

This position supports the payroll function of GWR.   This will require processing of high-volume payroll data and provide day-to-day support and reports to customers.  The position requires the flexibility to work across all entity payrolls to ensure a high-quality payroll service is delivered to GWR, TPTL, Hull Trains and Heathrow Express.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for collating, reviewing and amending payroll data from various time and attendance systems. Importing data into the payroll systems, ensuring that all interfaces are compliant.
  • Support the payroll team; this will include checking their work and cover as and when required.
  • Provide support to the Payroll management team to ensure that weekly and four-weekly payroll is completed accurately and on-time.
  • Resolve payroll queries.
  • Ensuring compliance with the GWR delegated authority matrix that managers have appropriate authorisation levels.
  • Ensuring GDPR compliance.
  • Ad hoc duties as and when required.

You'll need to be: 

  • Experienced in working in a large payroll department and working to tight deadlines.
  • Experienced in dealing with multiple terms and conditions.
  • Proactive with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Professional, confident and act with a high level of integrity at all times.
  • Able to provide excellent customer service.

As a minimum, you will need to have: 

  • Proven knowledge of UK payroll legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pension and payroll processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excel intermediate level.
  • Strong system skills and ideally Cyborg.

About the location:

The team are currently based in a modern office space in central Bristol.

Working Pattern: 

Monday to Friday - 35 hours per week.

Additional Information:

There will be a requirement to work occasional weekends and Bank holidays to ensure payrolls are delivered on time
