About the job:

This role seats with the revenue management team in the Sales and Marketing department who are responsible for analysing the company's revenue performance including producing the budget and revenue generation activities. 

As a Revenue Analyst you will be an integral part of the team providing accurate analysis and insights to the business and stakeholders, helping to inform decision making and support our vision of revaluing rail in the hearts and minds of the travelling public.  This role is dynamic in nature where no two days are the same and is perfect for someone who thrives on variety, with opportunities to work across multiple projects, teams, and responsibilities. 

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Extract data from industry systems to create/maintain dynamic adhoc and periodic reporting
  • Provide data driven analysis to analyse trends and inform Commercial strategy and Revenue Management (RM) activities
  • Proactively support the RM team to manage typological products (Group & Family products) and focus on third party revenue channels including but not limited to group travel.
  • Analyse tactical and strategic initiatives from across the business to identify improvement areas and implement actions to proactively manage yield, load factor and revenue.
  • Analyse and highlight revenue opportunities achievable through correct use of distressed inventory initiatives
  • Support Senior revenue manager to deliver Regional, Brand Marketing and promotional activity including the testing and implementation of inventory rules.
  • Support S3 Inventory and Yield Management team to deliver BAU and commercial initiatives.

As a successful candidate, you will have the following core competencies: 

  • Strong proficiency in using Microsoft applications including Power BI, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to analyse data to tell a story and make recommendations to improve Commercial performance.
  • Provide actionable insights across a variety of business situations and be comfortable in dealing with and presenting the outputs to stakeholders.
  • Be able to handle multiple projects and adapt to a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaboratively with stakeholders across the business

Desirable

  • Have knowledge of the principle of Revenue Management (RM)/factors influencing demand and supply etc.
  • Have knowledge of the GWR network and fare products.
  • Be educated to a degree level in a numerical or commercial subject.
  • Have knowledge of S3 or how reservation systems work.
  • Have sound commercial acumen with the ability to make confident and innovative business decisions.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be flexible and able to work using own initiatives, with the ability to manage conflicting and changing demands.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

As a minimum, you will need to have: 

  • A degree or equivalent in a business, numerical or Commercial subject.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade A-C.

You will: 

  • Be able to present complex data and communicate this across a variety of non-users.
  • Be able to handle multiple projects and adapt to a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Have proven rapid analysis and decision making skills.
  • Have worked in the Rail or service-sector industry (desirable).
