About the Team

As an integral part of our on-board team, you will work closely with Conductors, Train Managers, Station colleagues and Revenue Protection Inspectors. Together, you will ensure our customers enjoy a safe, seamless and world-class journey with GWR.

Key Information

  • Location: Bristol Temple Meads Station
  • Salary : training salary – £24,521 Passed training salary £28,218
  • Hours: 10 hours per week – Saturdays only (10:00–20:00)
  • Training: Full-time (35 hours per week) for three weeks
  • Travel Requirement: Candidates must live within 60 minutes' travelling time of the depot

About the Role

In this customer-focused role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all passengers hold valid tickets for their journeys, while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment on board.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as an ambassador for Great Western Railway by delivering an exceptional customer experience and a safe journey for all
  • Selling and inspecting tickets and railcards, ensuring customers receive the most suitable products for their needs
  • Supporting revenue protection activities, including the issue of penalty fares in line with The Railways (Penalty Fares) Regulations 2018
  • Providing clear, proactive customer information and assistance, particularly during periods of disruption
  • Helping to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable on-board environment

You will be an enthusiastic, positive and customer-focused individual who takes pride in delivering excellent service. You are confident, adaptable and able to work effectively under pressure, even when faced with challenging situations.

  • Experience in a front-line customer service environment
  • The resilience and professionalism to remain calm and courteous in confrontational situations
