If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you to join our On Board Revenue Protection team.

About the Role

As a Ticket Examiner, you will play a key part in delivering GWR's world class customer experience by ensuring passengers have valid tickets and providing assistance when required. You will work on board trains as part of a friendly and professional team, helping customers enjoy a smooth and safe journey.

You will report to the Area Revenue Protection Manager and be supported throughout your training and development.

What's in It for You?

  • Salary: Training: £24,512 FTE (£14,008 pro rata for 20 hrs/week). After 6 months: £28,218 FTE (£16,138 pro rata for 20 hrs/week).

What You Will Do

  • Check tickets and provide guidance to passengers
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in line with GWR standards
  • Operate ticketing and retail systems confidently
  • Apply penalty fares when appropriate, maintaining professionalism at all times
  • Accurately record details and complete reports
  • Ensure safety and security procedures are followed on board

What We Are Looking For (Minimum Criteria)

  • Experience of working within a regulated industry or following guidelines
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Experience in front line customer service
  • Numeracy and literacy skills appropriate to the role
  • Knowledge of GWR ticketing products, conditions of sale, railway timetables and fares (or willingness to learn)
  • Exceptional people and communication skills
  • Able to deliver a world class customer experience, particularly in confrontational situations
  • Able to make appropriate decisions within the boundaries of authority and responsibility
  • Detail conscious and capable of accurately recording information

Qualifications / Certifications:
No formal qualifications required — full training is provided.
