Salary: Up to £34k if based at Plymouth/Exeter or up to £37,340 if based in London depending on skills and experience

About the team?

The Retail team within the Sales and Marketing Directorate is responsible for the management and delivery of GWR's digital channels and all aspects of ticketing delivery. The team are responsible for managing GWR's online presence to promote our products and services, keep customers informed and raise awareness of our brand.

About the job?

The role has a key part to play within the team with quality assurance and testing of new functionality and development updates across all GWR's retail channels with a keen focus on digital. You will also undertake system administration to ensure our digital presence remains up to date and functions correctly.

You will work closely with our Digital agency and other TOC's to ensure delivery of the GWR product roadmap in line with the long term vision to “revalue rail in the hearts and minds of the British public.”

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Support the coordination and organisation of development releases to ensure that new functionality is tested and implemented successfully, with the appropriate level of quality assurance
  • Perform and manage testing activity, using prescribed test scripts, to highlight and resolve issues before they become live and available for customers

  • Design, develop and evolve test scripts to ensure test processes remain robust and relevant
  • Maintain and update digital campaigns, promotions and ancillary revenue opportunities using system administration tools
  • Appropriately administrate new functionality and mitigate risk where required
  • Identify development and product improvement opportunities, support split testing and inform prioritisation of activity across our digital channels ensure best return on investment and customer experience
  • Liaise with relevant agencies and suppliers to ensure our digital channels remain fully functional and that any problems are addressed promptly during day to day as well as during implementation phase
  • Work closely with the Digital Product Manager to manage the Digital roadmap
  • Use customer insight tools to track performance of customer journeys and experience
  • Use customer data to help answer business questions and improve digital services

 You'll need to be: 

  • Passionate about digital retailing/channels
  • Keen eye for detail
  • A team player who can work in a small team and can develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • A confident communicator who can explain complex technical issues concisely
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Organisation skills, capable of managing multiple projects or tasks at once
  • Aware of agile methodology
  • Understanding of JIRA or similar logging tools used to track activity and requirements
  • Familiar with digital analytics tools, including Google Analytics (GA4)

As a minimum, you will need to have: 

  • Experience in a QA or testing role
  • Experience managing test and release cycles
  • (Preferable) Experience working with a Marketing and e-Commerce website or app
  • (Preferable) Experience in a digital team or agile product development environment
  • (Preferable) Experience in the rail industry

 About the location?

The Retail team work in office locations in Plymouth, Exeter and London. This role can be based at any of these locations, dependent on your home location.

To ensure collaboration and support for our stakeholders, there is a requirement for regular work on-site in an office location, in addition to travel to our London office. Free rail travel across the GWR network is provided for GWR employees.

 Working Pattern?

This is a Monday to Friday, Office hours role, working 37 hours per week, although some flexibility is required to handle emerging business needs including out of hours or weekends and travel to other GWR locations.
