Are apprenticeships available for young people who would to become Train Drivers? I understand that the legal age for Train Drivers has reduced to 18.

Alex S. Application Support – Hr And Recruitment

    Hi Paul,

We do advertise for trainee train drivers, whereby those successful are placed into one of our train driver academies to receive the necessary training.

Unfortunately, we do not have any open campaigns at this moment in time, however when we do they will be found advertised here.

In terms of the minimum age, whilst it has been lowered to 18, train operators are not yet in a position to accept applications from those below the age of 20, due to various factors within the industry. Our adverts will always state the minimum age requirement, so it will be clear to anyone looking to apply when we are in a position to start accepting applications from those aged 18 and 19.
