Good morning Eamonn. The first thing you can do is register for job alerts on our careers website, so that you receive an email notification whenever a Trainee Train Driver vacancy becomes available.
To prepare yourself, I would also suggest that you learn about the values of the company, particularly when it comes to safety, performance and customer service. You can find our values on the Careers page:
https://www.firstgroupplc.com/about-firstgroup/our-vision-and-values.aspx
Next I would consider how good your concentration is, and start prioritising tasks that measure accuracy, speed and multi tasking. Computer games, simulations and traditional brain training exercises such as circling all the p's in the first two pages of a book in 2 minutes, can help prepare your skills for the life of a Driver, where precision, focus and non technical skills are paramount.
Good luck :)
