Im a kind, bubbly and hardworking individual with a willingness to grow and learn. Ive been trying to apply for train care operative or the apprenticeships or gateline assistant. Do you have any advice at all which would help me stand out against other applicants.

    Hello there,

The railway is very much about great customer service and safety, so a key thing would be to try to demonstrate behaviours that achieve this.

If you're asked to provide a CV or a history of your employment, include real examples (doesn't necessarily have to be railway related) of where you've followed behaviours such as:

    • Helping a difficult customer
    • Following safety rules
    • Remaining calm under pressure
    • Working both alone and within a team

If you can demonstrate behaviours like this, it will really help you to stand out amongst the competition. At the end of the day, we are looking for people who have a strong customer focus, will be ambassadors for the company, and always have safety in mind.

    I hope that helps.
