Your Role as a Train Driver

As a Train Driver at GWR, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our railway moving safely, reliably and on time. You’ll be responsible for operating our trains to the highest professional standards, ensuring every journey is safe, smooth and efficient for our customers.

You’ll be trusted to make sound decisions, follow rules and procedures precisely, and remain focused in a safety-critical environment. Whether you’re operating long-distance services or regional routes, your professionalism and attention to detail will directly shape our customers’ experience of rail travel.

Safety is at the heart of everything you do. You’ll take full responsibility for the safe operation of your train, responding calmly and effectively to changing conditions, incidents or service disruption, and working closely with colleagues to keep customers informed and protected.
