About the job

As part of the fleet train care team, carry out train cleaning duties on T&RS, to laid down specification in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve service quality. Undertake supervisory responsibilities as required

Work to all T&RS engineering, occupational health & safety, loss control and quality standards, schedules and practises.

Meeting rising quality, safety and efficiency targets. Adopting a systematic approach to all activities within the guidelines of relevant procedures, templates and company policies.

 

 

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Undertake supervisory assistant duties which are reasonably practical to role and location of work.
  • Ensure that all faults and acts of vandalism are recorded to the appropriate person and where possible seats and furnishings are replaced.
  • Ensuring safe and punctual train dispatch of FRL train services if required and subject to appropriate training and competencies.
  • Supervise all out based cleaning activities and arrangements for sites; also assist in cleaning roles of Traincare level 1 and 2 posts as required.
  • Assist in ensuring continuous development of train cleaning standards, materials, practices and principles in line with statutory and safety standards.
  • Monitor performance levels and ensure that all work complies with company quality standards. (reporting to Train Presentation Managers)
  • Be conversant with all local procedures and methods used within local depot / out based location to which attached.
  • Provide cover as designated on a volunteer basis for Train Presentation Manager posts if required.
  • A non-exhaustive list of job responsibilities is available in the train care conditions of service.
  • Traincare level 3 grades shall undertake a Supervisory Charge hand role and assist the Train Presentation Manager in an assistant role.

 

As a minimum, you will need to have:

Essential

  • Experience of managing or supervising a team of people
  • Experience in working within a team
  • Basic written & verbal communication skills
  • Practical experience in cleaning techniques and procedures
  • Safety conscious within the work place

Desirable

  • COSHH / HASAW  basic certification
  • Experience in an environment for cleaning of vehicles
  • Environmental awareness training
  • Security awareness (how to deal with suspect packages)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Knowledge of statutory health and safety requirements including COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
