I am wanting to become a train driver with First/Hull trains/Lumo, I am based in Sheffield, and am keeping an eye out on the hopeful line from Sheffield to London. I have sought after advice from current and past drivers and officials. I wanted to know what else I can do to fulfil my dream career.

As there are very few entry requirements for this role, there isn't too much you can do in the early stages. However, applicants are asked to complete a situational judgement test (SJT) test as part of their application, so I would recommend looking for practice tests to ensure you perform as best as possible when the time arises.

Are there any additional practice tests that can be purchased? Practice tests that are more detailed than the generic ones that are pre-sent prior to the assessments. Such as Ticket Checking, I failed the Ticket Checking assessment, so additional material that is detailed more specifically to the assessment test would be useful. Thank you, Emily. 😊

All of the practice tests we issue are property of the respective testing provider(s) and so unfortunately, these cannot be purchased from us.
If you are invited to an assessment day for a Trainee Train Driver or Guards role, you will be sent a comprehensive set of practice materials at least one week ahead of your assessment date, which should give you enough time to practice sufficiently.
